Pokémon Day Event Box Analysis

The new Pokémon Day Event Boxes are raiding the in-game shop and replacing the Valentine’s Day boxes. These new boxes are not the best in terms of overall savings, but each does have its own perks. Here is an analysis of the individual boxes to start things off.

Box Analysis

Items Special Great Ultra
Raid Passes 4 6 15
Egg Incubators 1
Super Incubators 2 6
Star Pieces 3 4 8
Lure Modules
Lucky Eggs 3
Incense 7
Total Price 480 780 1480

To analyze these boxes, we use the price of Lucky Eggs and Incense as their prices in bulk, since we really want to make an analysis of bulk buying. This lands the individual price of Lucky Eggs and Incense at 63 coins a piece. Each other item is priced at normal shop prices.

Analysis Special Great Ultra
Total Worth 700 1389 3541
Coins Saved Per Box 220 609 2061
Coins Saved from Incubators and Raid Passes 70 220 1220
% Saved 31.4% 43.8% 58.2%
% Saved from Incubators and Raid Passes 12.7% 22% 45.1%

Overall, the amount of coins saved is lacking compared to past sales, but the content of the boxes helps to make up for the lack of tangible savings. These boxes definitely seem geared more towards raiding for the first time in a while.

Special Box

Sporting a variety of three items, this box contains a good amount of raid passes, though not enough that would outweigh buying them one at a time. The amount of raid passes paired with the star pieces and a single egg incubator is a steal for the low coin player who wants their hands on a few extra passes, while also being eager to get a star piece and egg incubator at the same time. If the extra items do not interest you, and you just want the raid passes, saving an extra 20 coins would give you 500 coins, enough to buy 5 raid passes.

Great Box

A better medley of items, this box better shows its worth in raid passes and super incubators, making the box more appealing. 1000 coins worth of raid passes and incubators, for a net savings of 220 in these items alone. For this box, buying passes individually would net you 8 raid passes if you saved up an extra 20 coins to reach 800, but the extra items in this one are worth the ‘loss’ of 2 raid passes.

Ultra Box

For the first time in a long time, the price of the box is less than the price of buying raid passes one-by-one, but it is not less than the price of super incubators one-by-one. It is nice to see a slow down on the incubators in favor of more raid passes for a change. This box is 100% worth if you are looking for a good raiding box because 15 raid passes would cost 1500 coins, and the box is only 1480, with extra goodies included! If you are looking for your weight in incubators…. well we actually have something for you too.

Bonus Round

There is a newcomer to the shop in the form of an ‘Adventure Box’.

Items Adventure Box
Raid Passes
Egg Incubators 5
Super Incubators 11
Star Pieces 8
Lure Modules
Lucky Eggs
Incense 7
Total Price 1480
Analysis Adventure Box
Total Worth 3791
Coins Saved Per Box 2311
Coins Saved from Incubators and Raid Passes 1470
% Saved 70%
% Saved from Incubators and Raid Passes 49.9%

The Adventure Box

The Adventure Box, though another box that lacks actual % savings, is full of incubators, both normal and regular. Geared entirely towards ‘adventurers’, it features no raid passes, and instead doubles up on the egg incubator scene, flaunting both regular and super incubators, as well as incense and star pieces. This box is for the players who are not interested in the current raid pass boxes and are looking hatch all those sweet, sweet eggs.

Final Notes

As mentioned, these boxes are not the best in terms of actual % savings, but this is the first time that we have boxes geared for egg hatchers, and a step in the right direction for boxes geared towards raiders. Though more raid passes would be appreciated, this is a good start! The Ultra Box and Adventure Boxes are worth a purchase, so start hoarding those coins, or use the ones you have hoarded up already!
